Can I eat Healthy,Delicious, Restaurant Quality Food for 50 euro a Week?
One of the most common excuses I hear people use about not eating healthy food is that it's too expensive. I always hear how they can't afford to buy healthy food and resort to processed food and takeaway as it's cheaper. These are the same people that won't bat an eyelid at spending €150 on a night out on cigarettes and alcohol every week. How do I know this? Because I used to be one of them.
I have teamed up with Kerrigans award winning craft butchers to come up with a menu that provides 3 meals a day from Monday to Friday that won't break the bank. For the month of August they have very kindly offered to give 15% off all orders with the discount code "IFF0815". Below is a sample menu that I have created.

The menu has been designed to suit the most basic level of cooking. The hardest thing you will have to do is to make a judgement call on whether you think the avocado is ripe enough for eating. You got this.
Price
Here is the shopping list for everything you need. You can also see the breakdown in price. The meat will cost €40.49. When you apply the discount code it will come to €34.42 if you collect it in store. Add another €7.99 if you want it to be delivered to your home.

The vegetables will cost €15.05 from Aldi. That's a total of 49.47. Let's round that up to a nice even €50.

Breakfast
I have kept breakfast as simple as possible. 3 mornings a week you will have protein porridge. I am going to make a wild assumption that you have protein power in your cupboard. The other two days you will have Turkey Bacon, Eggs and Avocado. Always pan fry the bacon for maximum taste as girlling it can often leave it a bit dry.

Lunch
Lunch will be Chilli Con Carne 3 times a week and Turkey Burgers and Sweet Potato chips the other two days.
The recipe for the Chilli Con Carne is very simple. Below are the ingredients:
-500g Minced Meat
-Passata(1 Litre)
-Two Onions
-Mixed Peppers(Green,Red and Yellow)
-Beef Stock
-Kidney Beans
-Chillies
-Mushrooms
Finely chop the onions, mixed peppers, mushrooms and chillies. Add these to a pot with some olive oil. Cook them for 5 minutes until they are soft. Add the minced meat and some salt and pepper and cook for another 5 minutes. Then add the passata and the beef stock mixed in a pint of water. Simmer for 30 minutes while stirring regularly. Drain the kidney beans and add them to the pot. Simmer for another 20 minutes. Cook your rice and serve yourself a generous portion of your chilli.
Dinner
Dinner is my favourite meal of the day. It's nice to sit down to a delicious meal after a hard days work. With that in mind I have chosen meals that require minimal effort. Everything can be cooked in 20 minutes or less. Nobody wants to be slaving away in the kitchen after work.
Monday and Thursday will consist of Lamb burgers, asparagus and sweet potato chips.
It's treat yourself Tuesday with Steak, spinach and sweet potato chips.
Wednesday is a Meatzza with spinach and potatoes and Friday is a Fakeaway spice bag served with a large glass of red wine. You deserve it.
So there you have your 3 meals a day from Monday to Friday for €50. This is just one example of a sample menu that you can create. There are plenty of other options online on Kerrigans website that you can see here. Don't forget to use the discount code "IFF0815" at the checkout. Happy Shopping!
