5 Things to Do at the Weekend that Don’t involve Drinking Yourself into Oblivion

We all know that feeling on a Tuesday morning after being out for the entire Bank Holiday weekend where we promise ourselves that we will definitely take next weekend off the sauce. By Wednesday you have re-evaluated your drinking, your life and have even contemplated trying out the 12 steps. Then Friday comes with a sledge hammer of peer pressure and before you know it your real friends have twisted your rubber arm and you are sitting in a pub on Saturday afternoon on a rollover convincing yourself that this is the life. Below are 5 alternative activities to do while giving your liver a well deserved rest.

Go for a Jog

Sign up to ParkRun for a free weekly 5km timed run. They are held in areas of open space all around Ireland such as Malahide Castle and Cabinteely Park. Marlay Park is my favourite one. It’s on every Saturday at 9.30am and it’s free to register online - www.parkrun.ie. Compete against all different levels of runners and treat yourself to a nice coffee in the Food Market after.

The Little Museum of Dublin

Soak up some culture and visit The Little Museum of Dublin. Voted Dublin’s best museum  experience by The Irish Times and it’s the number 1 museum in Ireland on Trip Advisor.Stand on the podium that JFK used when he spoke to make yourself feel like a really important person.Tickets are €7 and are available online here: www.littlemuseum.ie

Go for Brunch

When it comes to come brunch in Dublin then we are spoilt for choice. Check out San Lorenzo'sDillinger'sOdessa or WhiteFriar Grill which is my own personal favourite. Get the RibsnRump - An 8oz rump steak with sticky BBQ ribs and thick cut chips.

Do the Howth Head Cycle

If you are one of those people that doesnt have a bike then fear not. You can sign up for a 3 day subscription at Dublin Bikes for €5 - www.dublinbikes.ieIf you feel like getting competitive then download the Strava app. You can try and beat the top times set by other people that have completed the cycle. The Howth Headcycle loop is 35km and you can view the route you take here - Howth Head Cycle Loop

JumpZone

Release your inner child and check out Jumpzone - Ireland's Indoor Trampoline Park located in both Sandyford and Santry. Prices vary from €9 an hour off peak to €13 an hour during peak times. Throw yourself headfirst into the foam pit to forget about your credit card that you maxed out last weekend in Copper's.
