5 AMAZING SPOTS IN DUBLIN FOR SOME OUTDOOR CARDIO
With the amazing weather we have this week it would be shame to spend it inside a gym. Why don't you try and do some cardio outdoors for a change and soak up that glorious and unpredictable Irish sun?You can't beat the great outdoors as a way of clearing the head and de-stressing. Top Tip: Remember to wear suncream!
1. KILLINEY HILL JOG
This is a nice easy jog suitable for beginners. The hill is 153 metres high and offers beautiful views of Bray Head and Wicklow Mountains. This is also a fantastic photo opportunity for Instagram. If you did some cardio and didn't take a selfie after then did it really happen?
2. SEAPOINT JOG AND SWIM
Park your car at Seapoint and jog in the direction of Dun Laoghaire until you get to the first pier on the left. The distance to the end of this pier and back to Seapoint is exactly 5k. Reward yourself with a refreshing dip in the ice cold sea. If people in their 70's and 80's can swim in this all year round then so can you.
3. HELLFIRE CLUB JOG
The Hellfire Club sits on top of Montpellier Hill at 390 metres above Dublin City. This is a short but tough jog and the distance from the carpark up to the top and back is between 3-5k depending on which route you take back. There are many stories of bad spirits, satanism, gambling and other illegal activities happening here in the past. Are you brave enough to ignore these urban legends and tackle the Hellfire Club?
4. TICKNOCK
Ticknock has some spectacular views over Dublin City once you get to the top. It also has numerous mountain bike trails that are great fun and not for the faint hearted. It takes a while to cycle to the top but what goes up must come down and this is when the real fun begins. If you don't have a mountain bike then you can rent one from the shop in the carpark. Remember to always wear a helmet as some of the trails are very dangerous.
5. BRAY TO GREYSTONES
You can either jog this or walk it depending on your fitness level but the total distance is 10k. You will be able to appreciate the views more if you walk it but beware of strangers selling delicious and inviting ice-cream somewhere along the route. No Bray to Greystones walk is complete without getting some amazing food afterwards in the Happy Pear.
